Why Are Engagement Sessions Valuable
Planning a wedding has many moving parts, and some of what you’re doing together is sitting in meetings, negotiating pricing, and balancing budgets. Sometimes it can feel that planning a wedding is more business and a lot less romance. That’s why I encourage you to take a break from planning, and the perfect break is engagement photos!
Engagement Sessions Help you Connect
Your engagement session will be so much fun! It gives you time to connect, get in some alone time, and come away with some amazing portraits. It also gives you both a chance to slow down and enjoy the romance of being engaged, excited for your upcoming wedding.
Another way your engagement session helps you prepare for your wedding day is by just allowing us to work together once before the wedding to help allay any fears you have about being in front of the camera. I can help you with posing: guiding you through creating those little candid moments that show your personality and love.
Engagement Sessions Help you Feel Comfortable on the Wedding Day
It is very common for people to feel ‘camera-shy,’ so an engagement session is a great way to break this ice. While there are some formal portraits we create, there are also many fun candid, photojournalistic style portraits. Whether it’s on your wedding day or any other day, the secret to amazing portraits is your connection, your love for each other.
The benefit is that when your wedding day comes, it will feel more like a friend with a camera is showing up to take your photos! The clients who do engagement photos always tell me that they are so glad they did, and that it made the wedding day photos go so much easier.
Engagement Sessions Can Be Super Creative!
Some couples know the aesthetic they want to create with their engagement session. Others need a little more direction and want tips on what to wear or where to shoot. I’m always happy to talk you through what would work best given the weather, time of year, and choosing places that will complement your vision and you and your partner.
Engagement sessions are also a fantastic time to visit your favorite places together or to go to new places you’ve been meaning to visit. Lots of my couples use these photos for Save The Dates, or on the wedding websites they create for their wedding.
I absolutely love being creative in new places. Do you want a chic downtown session with a touch of industry and graffiti in San Francisco? Maybe at your grandparent’s farm in Marin County? Bring on the high heels and the cowboy boots! Wherever and whenever you feel relaxed, the result will be beautiful, connected photos.
We can even make a small day trip out of it. This fabulous Dahlia Farm has miles of beautiful flowers, and I can’t get the vision out of my mind of photographing a couple strolling through these fields at sunset. Are you in?!
Let’s work together to come up with the perfect location for your engagement photos. Make a day out of it, make a date of it! Let’s document this special time together with photos show the time between I will and I do.
Contact me, and let’s talk about your vision for your engagement photos ☺
