San Francisco Pet Photos

I met up with Rochelle and Layla at a dog park in San Francisco. Everyone was socially distancing themselves, the dogs were enjoying being out and about, and the sun was shining down.

This photo session is really special because Layla has helped Rochelle in dark and scary times, as Rochelle is a Domestic Violence survivor. Layla is a precious and sweet doggo that doesn’t stray too far from Rochelle, and I felt so honored to document the connection between Rochelle and Layla.

Here’s a brief paragraph from Rochelle on the history of her and Layla:

I am a Domestic Violence survivor that ran from my ex over 10 years ago, I ran with my little dog Baby who had been through a lot with me and I stayed in the relationship to keep her safe.

When we got to San Francisco, we stayed in Domestic Violence Shelters till I got on my feet. Once I found my own place Baby unfortunately passed away.

A friend said to me: Baby came into my life when we needed each other and left me when I was safe so that I could rescue another.

Three months later I rescued Layla from the Carlson Shelter. It was an online love affair. I saw her online, and a friend of mine was in LA at the time, with the help of a friend of his who is a rescuer, they got her out of the shelter and he brought her to me.

Layla has been with me for nearly 9 years, she is a funny little girl, full of piss and vinegar and as I always say my Boss.

I started my dog blog to speak out about Domestic Violence and Animal abuse plus the life and adventures of a rescued dog.

If you are suffering from Domestic Violence, please please call the hotline 1-800-799-7233, visit https://www.thehotline.org/ or contact the closest domestic violence organization closest to you.
