Hello everyone! How are you doing? My name’s Debra (but people call me Debs/Deb/misterdebs, I answer to anything with ‘deb’ in it :). I can’t believe it, but my website is finally done and published for the whole world to see! And this is how I feel about it.

So, here I am. This is my little space on the internet, and I hope that you’ll join me on my photography and creative journey. I can’t wait to share photo sessions, things I’ve learned, tips & tricks, stories, travel, more about me- basically, I’m just gonna share all!

I’ll start off this blogging adventure by answering the question:

"Why misterdebs? Why not msdebs?”

This is a question I get quite often whenever I tell someone the name of my business.

It started out at work, when a coworker brought over her Nintendo Switch to play during lunch. The two coworkers and I played Mario Kart on the Nintendo Switch, and I was quite ecstatic that you could make your own character! I created one called “mrdebs” as I thought of this Nintendo switch character as another extension of me. The name just rolls off the tongue. It became quite the inside joke between the three of us, and while I was thinking of a name for my business, I wanted something memorable that just shows off personality.

I thought of “mrdebs” from the Nintendo Switch game, and it really resonated within me. Then I decided to spell out “misterdebs” to give the name more character. I also was really inspired by MrKate, and how she totally embodies and accept the #creativeweirdo mantra. I was all about that and decided to totally go it!

msdebs sounds like a pompous granny teacher wearing thick-rimmed glasses with a shrill voice, which is not quite the image I’d like to portray.
